To be present with others in ways that help them shine into
their deepest color, purpose and wisdom.
~John Paul Lederach
Each of us has a mission in life. That mission is to use our gifts to make the world a better place, not just for ourselves or those in our group, however we define that, but for the world as a whole. How we live out our mission is unique to each of us, just as our particular set of gifts and talents is unique to each of us. Our mission is not our “job” or “career.” Our work is something we choose based on our skills, interests and needs that provides opportunities for us to live our mission. Our mission does not end when our job ends.
“Glistening” is part of living our mission. When we are able to set ourselves aside to focus deeply on another person, that person feels valued and seen. They are able to draw on their own wisdom to walk their path. I admit that this is hard for me to do. I think we all want to be the knight in shining armor, riding in to save the day with our amazing insight. But everyone wants to make their own choices based on the things that they value. Our job is to sit with, listen to, to glisten. How have you glistened today?
