Getting to a better you
“Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop.”
What do you need to leave behind in 2018? What needs to go so that you have the space to grow something new?
Many of us drag outdated beliefs and ideas with us from year to year instead of taking the time to look at what holds us back from becoming our best self. I used to believe that I needed to become more perfect every year. I never stated that as an actual New Year’s resolution, but it’s something that influenced everything I did, and not for the better. When I approached situations as a perfectionist, all I could see was what was wrong and needed to be fixed. I would get frustrated when I couldn’t change those things, especially when those weren’t even things I had control over! What a waste of time and energy! Now I look at a situation to see how I can bring out my gifts, offer my best, or even to decide that “good enough is good enough.” I’m easier on myself and others, and that makes life better for everyone.
Are you holding on to grudges, anger, or old goals that are no longer relevant? Whether you need to clear out old junk from your closet or your heart, let it go now so that you can start to create the new, realistic goals; the generous relationships; and the curious mind that you really want and that will get you where you want to go.
Wishing you a new year that brings you closer to your true self!
